Teaching firearm safety, one course at a time...
Firearm Safety Services
On behalf of the Chief Firearms Officer, and myself, I would like to say that the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program wholeheartedly supports any actions taken by the CFSC instructors of BC/Yukon to enhance public safety through more effective safety training practices, including the formation of the IOFSA.
Proper safety training is the foundation of safe and responsible gun ownership in Canada. While instructors may vary in their techniques and approaches, the priority must always be safety - that is the one standard that must never be compromised. We will be continuing to work to improve the way that we administer the program over the next year, and we look forward supporting every instructor in BC/Yukon as he/she strives to deliver the safety course in his/her community.
If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at Nicole.PICKET@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or at 1-800-731-4000 ext 9535.

The Canadian Firearms Safety Course is a pre-requisite in order for you to apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL). This course
is also a pre-requisite for the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety
You can take the non-restricted course before turning 18 years of age, however, you cannot apply for your PAL until you are 18 years of age. Simply hang onto the successful course report until you are 18 years of age and then submit it with your PAL application.
You must actually be 18 years of age to be eligible to enroll in the restricted course.
Welcome to Firearms Safety Services, where we provide firearm
safety training including both the Canadian Firearms Safety Course
